Dear Supporter,
Great news! Lawmakers in Congress just unveiled new legislation that would expand preschool to children in New Jersey and across the nation. Studies show that high-quality early education can help children succeed in school.
But the plan is far from reality. To build support, we all need to speak up for kids. It takes just a minute to make a difference. Just click here. It’s really easy.
This federal plan is modeled after New Jersey’s successful preschools. While these preschools reach about 45,000 NJ children each year, another 35,000 are left behind, simply because of where they live. The federal plan would return federal dollars to New Jersey to fund the preschool expansion mandated in our state 2008 school funding law.
New Jersey must work harder to close the persistent achievement gap between children in low-income families and those in families who can afford to pay for quality preschool. Each year, the state spends billions of dollars on public education. Quality preschool leverages that significant investment and gives all children a better chance of school success.
Please send your message today! You really can make a difference for New Jersey’s young children.
Sincerely,
Cecilia Zalkind
