Action Alert!

Urge Congress to approve child care funding.

TAKE ACTION
Urge your U.S. Senators to approve child care funding to improve access and quality of care.
Great news! For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Senate and House have agreed to reauthorize the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG), the primary federal program that provides funds for child care subsidies for low-income working parents, while improving child care quality.

The bipartisan bill promises to:
  •   Improve the health and safety of children in child care settings;
  •   Make it easier for families to get and keep the child care assistance they need;
  •   Enable children to have more stable child care; and
  •   Strengthen the overall quality of child care.
Yesterday, the House approved the measure. Later this week, the Senate is scheduled to vote.  We need your help to get this to the finish line. Send a message to your U.S. Senators now! It only takes a click.

Improving Child Care Quality
A key piece of the legislation would fund efforts to improve the quality of infant-toddler care. This would increase states’ ability to invest in specialized training and support for infant-toddler providers. This is great news and signals a growing recognition of the importance of the first three years in preparing children for success in school and in life.

Sincerely,

Cecilia Zalkind
