Improving Academic Achievement for NJ Foster Kids

Children in New Jersey’s foster care system are more likely to remain in their home school when they enter foster care, thanks to a law passed in 2010, giving these vulnerable children improved educational stability. This is helping to improve their chances for school success, according to a recent ACNJ survey.

With more than half of New Jersey’s children living in families where no parent is fully employed, a new report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation calls for a comprehensive effort to lift children and families out of poverty.

Help Support Home Visiting

A national coalition is urging Congress to support funding for the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program (MIECHV program) at its current annual level of $400 million. These programs are among the most effective in getting very young children off to the right start.
