Strengthening New Jersey’s Early Learning System through
the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

Wednesday, September 28, 2016
9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Thomas Edison State University
Room 104, 101 West State Street, Trenton, NJ

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed by President Obama in December 2015. The new law reauthorized our nation’s education law, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), but also provides opportunities for states to build on key areas of progress including early childhood education.

Come hear Danielle Ewen, Senior Policy Advisor at Education Counsel, LLP, Washington, DC, provide an overview of ESSA and how early childhood education can be integrated into the creation and implementation of the state’s plan.

Stakeholders will then have an opportunity to engage in conversations with attendees and representatives of the NJ Department of Education around early childhood education to help strengthen the state’s developing ESSA plan.
