March 29, 2017

Dear Supporter:

Please join us tomorrow, Thursday, March 30th for a national day of action on child care.

We need you to call your representatives and request that the appropriations chairman increase funding for the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) by $1.4 billion in the FY 2018 appropriations bill. Without this additional funding, states will not be able to fully implement the safety, health, and other reforms in the CCDBG Act of 2014 while maintaining the current number of children served. In New Jersey, approximately 30,500 families (with 44,800 children) annually rely on this funding for child care assistance so they can work.

Congress needs to hear about the importance of funding direct child care assistance through CCDBG now!   April 6th is the deadline to make an appropriations request to the Chairman.

Here is what you can do:

• Call your Congressional representative tomorrow, Thursday March 30th and request that the appropriations chairman increase funding for the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) by $1.4 billion in the FY 2018 appropriations bill.

• If you or a family member currently receive a child care subsidy, tell them what this subsidy means to you.

Please join us to let Congress hear about the importance of child care in NJ.

Sincerely,

If you connect with a staffer:

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent of Representative _______.   I’m calling because child care is an important issue for American families.   I know that April 6th is the deadline for Rep. _______ to make an appropriations request to the Chairman, and I’d like for him/her to prioritize an increase for child care.   Specifically, I hope Rep. _______ will ask for a $1.4 Billion increase in C-C-D-B-G, because child care helps parents go to work and helps children get the good start that they need.   Thank you for your time.

If you have to leave a message:

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent. I urge the Congressman/woman to ask for a $1.4 Billion increase in C-C-D-B-G before the April 6th Appropriations request deadline because child care helps parents work and children get the good start they need.
