Any New Jersey parent will tell you that child care is often expensive and difficult to find. But for low-income working parents, the challenge is even greater. Child care providers that serve these families receive a state infant subsidy rate of $32.12 per day or just $4.00 an hour per baby. This amount has not been increased in nearly a decade and covers only a small fraction of what it really costs to provide high-quality care.
