It's National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week
And it's a critical reminder of the thousands of children that get exposed to lead ever year. In fact, the latest state childhood lead poisoning report showed that more than 5,000 kids under age 6 had elevated blood lead levels in New Jersey.
Lead is powerful toxin that can cause developmental delays, learning disabilities, behavioral problems, hyperactivity and in some cases, even death.Childhood lead poisoning is entirely preventable, if sufficient resources are allocated to address the problem.
We're less than two weeks away from Election Day, November 7th.
Let's urge the gubernatorial candidates to keep the health of New Jersey children in mind.
