Happy Holidays!

What a year it has been for babies in New Jersey! From more than 100 little ones rallying at Strolling Thunder, to the release of our first-ever Babies Count data book on children from birth to 3, to our advocacy trainings bringing together dozens of stakeholders across the state - we all have done a lot! And our policymakers are listening! The recent increase in the child care subsidy reimbursement rate is a direct result of our advocacy. A huge thanks to all of you for making this happen. We could not have done this alone! Click here to watch our campaign video!

Assemblywoman Annette Chaparro and a young constituent!

Last month, ACNJ visited the Mile Square Early Learning Center and HOPES CAP, Inc. Head Start in Hoboken with Assemblywoman Annette Chaparro, (D-33). Assemblywoman Chaparro toured both programs and had an opportunity to talk with center directors, teachers, family workers and parents about the challenges facing working families and the child care community. While costs have been rising for centers and parents, the Assemblywoman heard that government investments have not been keeping pace. Parents are struggling to find affordable child care and directors are struggling to keep quality staff. The lawmaker listened as staff and parents shared their compelling stories.  It is ACNJ's hope that this open and candid discussion will lead to other conversations and eventually true reform!

We want to hear from you!

Parents are increasingly relying on grandparents to care for their little ones. Do you use grandparent care? Take our poll! We will share the results in our January newsletter!
