During its early years, ACNJ was at the forefront of important legislation like New Jersey’s bike helmet and seat belt laws. From combating lead exposure and childhood hunger to ensuring all children have access to health coverage, ACNJ has championed initiatives to keep kids safe and healthy. The state’s child uninsured rate is now at an all-time low, just under 4 percent. In addition, thousands more students start the school day with a nutritious breakfast – a direct result of the “breakfast after the bell” campaign.
