What: ACNJ will release its 2018 Newark KIDS COUNT, an annual snapshot of child well-being in New Jersey’s largest city. This year's report features a special section on the state of childhood lead poisoning and prevention in Newark. Dr. Rodgers will speak on the impact of lead on Newark's children, followed by a panel discussion on the future of lead prevention in the city. Where: Rutgers University, Robeson Campus Center (Bergen Room), 350 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Newark, N.J. When: Tuesday, March 27 at 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Why: ACNJ's annual Newark KIDS COUNT includes the latest statistics, along with five-year trend data, in the following areas: demographics, family economic security, food insecurity, child health, child protection, child care, education and teens. This year's special focus on childhood lead exposure recognizes the progress made in lead removal and prevention, but also highlights the unique obstacles that persist in keeping Newark children and homes lead-safe.
