Dear Supporter:

Let the Governor know that for students, EVERY DAY COUNTS!

Kids cannot learn when they are not in school.  Yet there are too many seats in classrooms throughout our state that are frequently empty because the students who sit in those seats are “chronically absent” or missing 10 percent or more of the enrolled school days.

ACNJ has been leading the charge to reduce chronic absenteeism in schools across New Jersey. Recently, a landmark school attendance bill unanimously passed both houses of the New Jersey legislature requiring that schools keep track of chronically absent students and develop specific plans to respond to and reduce chronic absenteeism. This common-sense bill is good for parents, schools and most importantly, for students.

But there is just one more step needed for the bill to become law…

The Governor needs to sign it!

Please ACT TODAY!  Send the Governor a message or call his office at 609-292-6000 and tell him that you SUPPORT the chronic absenteeism bill and ask him to sign it as soon as possible, because when it comes to student learning, EVERYDAY COUNTS!

Please share this with your networks and contacts!

Sincerely,

Cecilia Zalkind
President/CEO
