NN11: A fabulous time, don'tcha know!

Netroots Nation 2011 was absolutely fabulous! The people of Minneapolis were welcoming, the convention center was packed with passionate progressives, and I was ready to rock my second Netroots Nation.

Working the Salsa table at Netroots was quite the experience -- with Salsa music blaring from our booth, goofy coworkers on either side trying to convince prospective and current clients to take a shot glass home with them (as long as they danced) and truly fantastic conversations with brilliant thinkers, I caught myself falling deeper in love with the progressive movement.

I learned about so many amazing organizations out there doing incredible work, from environmental groups to student associations, and I hope that I get to help each and every one of them organize online successfully. Corny? Perhaps, but you can't help but want to assist them in achieving their mission when they are this phenomenal!

I was able to sneak away to one panel devoted to bad websites, or, as the panel's title more delicately described: "Current Trends in Website Mistakes." It was fun, informative, and the panelists -- Chris Doorley of Velocity Strategies, Julie Blitzer of Advomatic, and Ryan Ozimek of PICnet and Open Source Matters -- really knew their stuff! One of many things I took away from this panel, that I hope every one of my clients (current and future) take to heart is to "know where your audience lives."

Overall, Netroots Nation 2011 in Minneapolis, MN was an awe-inspiring experience and you may or may not begin to hear me adding "don'tcha know" to my daily vocabulary. ;)
