April  2012 E-news

Join us for the NJ Kids Count Release/Budget Forum

On April 24, ACNJ will release New Jersey Kids Count, our annual statewide profile of child well-being, at 10:30 a.m. at The Marriott in Trenton. Attend to learn the latest trends in how NJ kids are faring.

This year, we will have a special focus on the increasing number of children living in low-income families, coupled with eroding supports for these struggling families.

For the first time, we will follow the Kids Count release with a special state budget forum where you can learn more about children’s issues related to the proposed spending plan, as well as tap into simple ways you can influence the budget process. Special activities are planned!

Register today for each FREE event. Space is limited!

April 15 Tax Deadline Can Provide Health Coverage for Kids

April 15 is just around the corner. Please spread the word to parents of uninsured children that they should check the box on their state income tax return, indicating their child lacks health insurance. Parents who check this box will receive in the mail a simple application for NJ FamilyCare, which provides free or low-cost health coverage for kids.  Income information on the tax return will be used to easily process each application. Please encourage parents of uninsured children to check the box in question 13 on NJ State Income Tax Return.

Download this flyer to alert parents about tax returns.
